I Don't know You!

I don't know = Less Wrong? His frankness about being a foolish, flawed and biased...

Xtron company director Koh Siow Ngea holds directorships in at least five companies related to City Harvest Church (CHC).

On top of that, he is the brother-in-law of its investment manager, Chew Eng Han.

But the company he now runs, Xtron Productions, is independent of the church, said Mr Koh Siow Ngea.

This is despite the fact that in 2008, Mr Koh was asked by CHC's senior pastor Tan Ye Peng to be a director at Xtron.

That is because CHC was one of Xtron's biggest customers so they could choose the company's directors, Mr Koh said on the witness stand on Tuesday.

He was the prosecution's third witness in the trial of six CHC leaders - which include Tan and Chew - accused of cooking the books.

When Mr Koh was appointed a director in July 2008, Xtron had $2.4 million of losses from 2007.

By the end of the 2008 financial year, it lost another $9.04 million.

When questioned about this, Mr Koh said he could not comment on that despite signing off on the company's yearly financial report. "Even though I sign, the content (of the financial report) I'm not sure."

He said more than once that despite its losses, Xtron was still a viable company.

This was because it could depend on business from the church, which provided "more than 95 per cent" of its income.

Moreover, Xtron shares the same vision as the church, he said, and staff were committed and would not mind working late nights or weekends.

"Our staff are good characters. People who don't swear or smoke. They're good people," he said.

Xtron also produced events for "big companies, multinational companies, beer companies", said Mr Koh, but he could not name any other clients when pressed by the prosecutor.

Unclear about details

There were also other documents that Mr Koh had signed despite being unclear about the details.

For instance, Mr Koh terminated Xtron's agreement to manage pop singer Sun Ho though "it was not my decision" to do so.

He said he was not sure who had decided to end the contract with Ms Ho even though his signature was on the termination document.

And then there was the July 2008 contract for a $17 million Riverwalk property that Xtron bought.

This was part of the advanced rental licensing agreement where CHC paid Xtron to buy land and rent space at the Singapore Expo to accommodate its congregation.

Mr Koh said it was a collective decision by the church to buy the property and he was informed of it by Tan.

He was not aware if Xtron repaid the entire sum to CHC after the agreement ended in 2010 when the church bought a stake in Suntec City.

Neither was he sure why it was necessary to pay back $40.5 million after the agreement ended.

"I don't know (what the money) was used for because I'm not the accountant," he said.

"But he will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!'", Luke 13:27

Luke 12:54-59

54 He said to the crowd: “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘It’s going to rain,’ and it does. 55 And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It’s going to be hot,’ and it is. 56 Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?
57 “Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right? 58 As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled on the way, or your adversary may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. 59 I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.”

Casting out Demons

Vatican denies that Pope Francis performed exorcism

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

The Vatican is adamantly denying that Pope Francis performed an exorcism on a man in St. Peter's Square, saying Wednesday that the claim is "absolutely false."

Suspicions arose that the pope had performed an exorcism after video surfaced of Francis laying his hands on a man's head and reciting a prayer, upon which the man heaved deeply a half-dozen times, shook, then slumped in his wheelchair.

"The Pope had no intention of doing an exorcism, so it is absolutely false that this has been done," Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi told Catholic News Agency. "He simply prayed for the sick person."

The man, who uses a wheelchair, was identified by the Associated Press as a 43-year-old husband and father who traveled to Rome from Mexico to attend Francis' Mass on Sunday in St. Peter's Square. According to the Rev. Juan Rivas, the priest who brought him, the man was possessed by the devil.

But Rivas maintains no exorcism was performed, saying Francis merely said a prayer to free the man from the devil.

"Since no one heard what he said, including me who was right there, you can say he did a prayer for liberation but nothing more," Rivas wrote on his Facebook page, which was confirmed by his religious order, the Legionaries of Christ.

The Rev. Gabriele Amorth, a leading exorcist for the diocese of Rome, said he performed a lengthy exorcism of his own on the man Tuesday morning and ascertained he was possessed by four separate demons. The case was related to the legalization of abortion in Mexico City, he said.

But Amorth told RAI state radio that even a short prayer, without the full rite of exorcism being performed, is in itself a type of exorcism.

"That was a true exorcism," he said of Francis' prayer. "Exorcisms aren't just done according to the rules of the ritual."

The Authority to drive out Demons
Mark 3:13-15; And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach, and to have authority to cast out the demons.

What is more Dangerous? A Fake Profile or False Teachings?

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!

Beware of fake Joseph Princes out to con you

By Naqiyah Shapudin
The New Paper
Monday, May 20, 2013

The Facebook page has the same cover photo and profile picture. The posts on the timeline are also identical, with frequent updates of inspirational verses from the Bible.

The difference?

One is the real Facebook page of Pastor Joseph Prince of New Creation Church, with close to a million "likes", while the other is a replica of his page, made to con people into thinking it is the real thing.

This impostor is not alone.

Others use some of the photos and posts on Mr Prince's page and post them on their profiles.

Some take it even further, meticulously copying and pasting posts from Mr Prince's real page onto their own timeline, hours after the original posts are made.

But all of them seem to lead to the same thing: Asking the follower to give money to a cause. The most common cause appears to be African orphanages that they say are in need of funds.

The impostor then gives details of how to carry out an online transfer of money to these "causes".

More than 20 'Joseph Princes'

It is not known how many people have been conned by these fake profiles, or how many there are out there, although a quick search on Facebook for "Joseph Prince" turned up more than 20 initial results.

Earlier this week, Mr Prince himself issued a warning to his followers regarding the matter, through a post on his official page.

The post read: "It has come to our attention, that there are people using fake Joseph Prince Facebook accounts to send friend requests and private messages to individuals to ask for their personal details or to raise money for their own causes, like orphanages."

It went on to say that Team Joseph Prince "do not use Facebook to raise any funds for other organisations... and we do not send private messages or friend requests to individuals".

The popular pastor's post comes in the wake of a rise in the number of people posing as high-profile pastors and soliciting money from innocent followers.

This scam is even more common overseas, with notable American pastors such as Adam Hamilton and John Hagee also being impersonated on Facebook.

How can I recognize a false teacher

Jesus warned us that “false Christs and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even God’s elect (Matthew 24:23-27; see also 2 Peter 3:3 and Jude 17-18). The best way to guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers is to know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Any believer who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) and who makes a careful study of the Bible can identify false doctrine. For example, a believer who has read the activities of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Matthew 3:16-17 will immediately question any doctrine that denies the Trinity. Therefore, step one is to study the Bible and judge all teaching by what the Scripture says.

Jesus said “a tree is recognized by its fruit” (Matthew 12:33). When looking for “fruit,” here are three specific tests to apply to any teacher to determine the accuracy of his or her teaching:

1) What does this teacher say about Jesus? In Matthew 16:15-16, Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answers, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” and for this answer Peter is called “blessed.” In 2 John 9, we read, “Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.” In other words, Jesus Christ and His work of redemption is of utmost importance; beware of anyone who denies that Jesus is equal with God, who downplays Jesus’ sacrificial death, or who rejects Jesus’ humanity. First John 2:22 says, “Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.”

2) Does this teacher preach the gospel? The gospel is defined as the good news concerning Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). As nice as they sound, the statements “God loves you,” “God wants us to feed the hungry,” and “God wants you to be wealthy” are not the complete message of the gospel. As Paul warns in Galatians 1:7, “Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” No one, not even a great preacher, has the right to change the message that God gave us. “If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:9).

3) Does this teacher exhibit character qualities that glorify the Lord? Speaking of false teachers, Jude 11 says, “They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.” In other words, a false teacher can be known by his pride (Cain’s rejection of God’s plan), greed (Balaam’s prophesying for money), and rebellion (Korah’s promotion of himself over Moses). Jesus said to beware of such people and that we would know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-20).

Archbishop William Goh appointed head of Catholic Church in Singapore

Granted Pope Francis's blessing!

The Catholic Church in Singapore has a new archbishop, and he is Archbishop William Goh.

In a statement, the Archdiocese in Singapore said Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Archbishop Nicholas Chia at noon in Rome on Saturday, or 6pm Singapore time.

With that, Co-adjutor Archbishop Goh became the Archbishop of Singapore.

He was appointed as successor to Archbishop Chia in an elaborate ordination ceremony on 22 February 2013 that was witnessed by some 14,000 people at the Max Pavilion.

Following the ordination, he became known as Co-adjutor Archbishop, to be confirmed as Archbishop with the Holy See's acceptance of his predecessor's resignation.

Delegate and Leadership

Exodus 18:17-25
Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you are doing is not good. “You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone. “Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You be the people’s representative before God, and you bring the disputes to God, then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do. “Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens. “Let them judge the people at all times; and let it be that every major dispute they will bring to you, but every minor dispute they themselves will judge. So it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you. “If you do this thing and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.”

So Moses listened to his father-in-law and did all that he had said. Moses chose able men out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens.

Happy Mothers' Day 世上只有妈妈好!

Today is Mothers' Day and I must agree; Mother knows best, they endure the pain of delivery and bearing a child. Being a Mom is a sacred partnership with God. "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven." Ecclesiates 3:1

Genesis 3:16
To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

Celebrate Tulip Day at Gardens by the Bay, bring your mother for a wonderful time.

Flowers are wonderful reminders to me of the grace of God in my life. Our Lord used lilies of the field to remind me of the provision of our heavenly Father. In His great Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talks about the lilies of the field, Matthew 6:28-29 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these."

If Jesus is concerned about flowers and birds, He certainly cares about you and me.

Servants of the Lord - Twice the judgement

When servants of the Lord committed a crime, they are judged doubly hard as they are role models, leaders of lost sheep. But who needs to be more White? PAP MP or a Leader of a Church? Fulfilling expectations of others.

Former Maris Stella principal found guilty of embezzling $67k

Anthony Tan Kim Hock appeared at the subordinate court for his verdict on misappropriating $ 67,000 in school funds. …

Former principal of Maris Stella High School (MSHS) Anthony Tan Kim Hock, 66, was found guilty on Wednesday of misappropriating $ 67,679 in school funds.

Tan had been charged with embezzling the funds from MSHS’s Chapel Building Fund between 27 March and 10 September of 2009.

The verdict was handed down by district judge Soh Tze Bian, who had heard that the former school principal had misappropriated the said amount of money for expenses related to construction works at the Champagnat House, a private home for the Marist Brothers, which is a religious congregation Tan belonged to.

Tan will be sentenced on 28 June of this year after both the defense attorney and the prosecution file their sentencing submissions on 31 May.

In May 2011, Tan was charged with 21 counts of embezzling funds totaling about S$ 150,000 between May 2004 and September 2009, but 20 counts had been stood down as applied by the prosecution.

Psalm 19:13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

John 8:34 Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin."

Singaporean teacher in Cambodia found dead
1 May 2013
By Jalelah Abu Baker

A SINGAPOREAN teacher working in Cambodia was found dead in her home there yesterday, sparking a murder investigation.

Mrs Wendy Ng, 52, a relief principal at the Hope International School, was seen to have suffered head wounds when she was found in a room at her two-storey home in the province of Kampong Speu, west of capital Phnom Penh.

Pastor Sinai Phouek, the director of New Hope for Orphans in Cambodia, told The Straits Times that colleagues went to investigate when Mrs Ng did not turn up for work at the Christian school.

"They couldn't get through to her. They saw blood coming out from the room and tried to break open the door," he said, adding that she had a big head wound.

I'm shocked by the sudden death of sister Wendy Ng in Cambodia, as she had gone there for "teachings" - a way for her inner-calling to take place.

May the Truth be revealed and her soul can rest in Peace. Comfort those love-ones around her as they continue to draw strength from You!

Lord lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. The result was a gladness of heart that surpassed any earthly prosperity or success. Psalms 4:6-7.

The apostle Paul experienced danger and hardship as a missionary. He was imprisoned, shipwrecked and beaten. It's no surprise that his letters contained pleas for prayer. He asked the believers in Thessalonian to pray for success in spreading the gospel - that God's Word would "run swiftly and be-glorified" 2 Thess. 3:1 and that God would deliver him from "unreasonable and wicked men". Paul knew he would need to "open his mouth boldly and declare the gospel, which he needed strength.

Intercede for others in prayer; God's throne is always accessible.
